This is a series of classroom activities designed to improve communication while developing creative thinking.
Creative thinking techniques encourage students to think in new and interesting ways to solve problems and address a variety of situations. These creative thinking techniques can help your learners find new ways in which to use or review language.
The approach used in this lesson is called the Random Element. The Random Element introduces random ideas and sequences into the pattern of conversation.
I’ve included an overview of how to use Random Element in the classroom as well as a worksheet. While these are designed for EFL/ESL learners these worksheets would work well in any classroom where the teacher wants to provide more creative conversations.
This worksheet will help the learners share information. This is more heavily scaffolded including specific things to talk about in both sides of the Random Element circle. This is good for an introduction lesson. This worksheet includes a dialogue that can be used as a slot substitution drill.
