These information gap activities are designed for beginner to pre-intermediate EFL/ESL students to practice scaffolded exchange of information. These information gaps are reading gap style information gaps.
In a partner pair one student is the reader and one student is the listener. The listening students fills in the blanks in the gap with information from the reader. In a group of two I would hand out two different information gaps.
When the first reader is finished the second reader takes turn. This information gap is designed to introduce or review science concepts as a part of a an English for Specific Purposes Activity.
To follow up the information gap I ask students to answer reading comprehension questions write on the board.
An additional follow up activity is to give students a choice of astronomy related topics and have students research the topics as a group and create a presentation.
